Ruthless Lions crush Team Ovo

Our boys in red have maintained their 100% start to the season by obliterating Team Ovo comfortably.

After earning two forfeit victories in the previous two opening rounds of the season, the Lions were ready to fire against the newly promoted side who dominated in last season’s Division 2.

Todevski’s men dominated from the start, controlling every aspect of the match. After Nikoloski opened the scoring, the floodgates opened for the Lions. Star player D. Paunkoski had already wrapped up his hat-trick by half time and Stankovski scored his first goal of the season. Petrovski was hardly troubled in goal but perhaps may feel he could’ve done better for the two goals the Lions conceded in the first half.

An eventful second half saw M. Paunkoski increase our lead, scoring his first goal for the Lions in 16 matches. A lapse in concentration saw Team Ovo peg two goals back in a space of a minute, but any slim hopes they may had were quickly demoralised when Nikoloski completed his hat-trick and scoring his 150th Metalurg goal, only the second to ever do so, after a stunning Metalurg counter attack. Karevski got on the scoresheet for the Lions soon after for the first time this season, and D. Paunkoski sensationally completed his double hat-trick when he toyed with the Team Ovo defence, before smashing a scorching volley to create the highlight of the match.

The boys in red went on to score a few more, and Team Ovo pegged another two goals back near the end of the match, finalising a 15–6 scoreline. This victory was the biggest for the Lions in three seasons ,and will want to now keep building this sort of sizzling form for the remainder of the season.
